St. Paul United Methodist Church will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2010 as a missionary church.

Our roots run deep in mission projects - local, regional, national and international. Learn more about some of our mission projects listed below. We would love you to join us as we make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ through our missions in action.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

St. Paul United Methodist Church was founded as a missionary church for the eastside of Spartanburg in 1960. That tradition carries on today through a variety of mission projects and activities supported by our children and youth through adults and seniors.

Here are just a few of the current mission projects and activities...

Christmas In Action

Our church family members worked this year on kitchen and bathroom repairs for Mrs. Wofford. Mrs. Wofford had a problem of cold air passing through her kitchen cabinets during the winter months. Our team removed the kitchen cabinets, insulated the kitchen walls, installed new kitchen cabinets and a new kitchen sink - as well as making some repairs for Mrs. Wofford in her bathroom shower and tub areas.

Salkehatchie Summer Service Missions is a combined missions projects involving youth and adults to help repair homes of those who are desperately in need of help. This youth oriented missions event allows the youth of our church family to travel to various parts of the state, promoting faith, fellowship and family values as they assists those in need of repairs.

A long standing tradition for the Methodist of South Carolina is to support our Christian based home for abused, neglected and abandoned children. We help them heal - we help them grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Located in Columbia, the Epworth Children's Home has a long standing tradition of love and support for the youth of our state. If you are interested in support for this project, please contact us and we'll be happy to provide you additional information.

Interfaith Hospitality Network

Helping those less fortunate and in need of food, clothing and shelter is only a part of the hope for this important local mission project. Together, we can be of service to each other through the teachings of Jesus.

Their resilience is amazing. Across the continent of Africa, despite the many strides in commerce, education and community development, the scars of civil war, colonial rape-and-pillage, corrupt government, poverty and hunger mar the land.

Still, the children’s faces shine with hope, with promise, with goodness, with the faith that God has great plans for the sons and daughters of what is arguably still the most misunderstood continent in the modern world. It is this hope, seen through the eyes of children, that has touched the bishops of The United Methodist Church - those born in Africa and those from other nations.

South Carolina Foster Parents

Our children need loving and nurturing homes - homes that provide both shelter and guidance. Foster parents of South Carolina provide opportunities to place children in distress into warm, nurturing homes.

Our church family lends helping hands to those building a new home for their families.

Holidays can be stressful times in the life of a family - especially if one parent is incarcerated. Angel Tree Project helps our church family members "adopt" and angel and provide them with presents to make their holiday season just a bit brighter.

Blood is the gift of life. Throughout the course of the year, our families donate blood before and after worship services to help other families in our communities through scheduled blood drives.

This is an annual fundraising event to promote awareness and provide funds for research in the cure of cancer. We actively support these efforts in memory of our past Saints and current Saints surviving this dreaded disease.
